You think football dominates SEC sports? That might be the case the other 11 months, but this March SEC basketball teams take the spotlight as three powerhouse programs head into the NCAA Elite 8. Kentucky, South Carolina and Florida are among the nations best basketball teams in 2017 and will play this weekend for a spot in the Final 4.

For basketball fans, Kentucky making the Elite 8 comes as no surprise. However, South Carolina and Florida are proving through scrappy and consistent play they deserve to be on the same stage as the blue-blood basketball programs of North Carolina and Kansas.
Fortunately, the SEC is guaranteed at least one team in the Final 4 as the South Carolina’s Gamecocks will face the Gators of Florida for the East Region Championships at 1:20 p.m. CDT Sunday. Kentucky will face the Tar Heels of North Carolina at 4:05 p.m. CDT later that afternoon.
