As a Southern Writer and podcast creator, producer, and host, I’m excited to introduce the I-65 to 30a podcast. If you’re not sure what these numbers mean, let me explain.

Over the past several decades, people have traveled on interstate 65 to the Florida panhandle, also known as the Emerald Coast. They often find peace, inspiration, and creativity along Highway 30a’s white-sand beaches.
The musical connection between Nashville and 30a can only be described as magical, producing countless songs, many of hit tunes. Like so many others, I’ve traveled the I-65 stretch between Music City and Florida many times.
In 2020, I created and released my first podcast, Southern Americana: Connecting the South’s Music, People & Places. Now in its third season, I’ve interviewed some amazing people. I hope you’ll check out those episodes too.
A few months ago, my friend Ashley Grimes, who knows the 30a music and creative scene well, mentioned a domain she had, I-65 to 30a. Unsure what she would do with it, I immediately knew it would make a great podcast title.

I-65 to 30a will profile creatives and entrepreneurs whose work impacts an area much more vast area than the highway from Nashville to 30a.
Between these two destinations lie an abundance of creative energy. Leiper’s Fork, TN, Muscle Shoals, Birmingham, Fairhope, Alabama are a few examples. Other places in Mississippi, Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, and the Carolinas influence multiple musical genres. These are hubs where creatives thrive, and thankfully we’ll never run short of talented guests.
Friends and fellow creatives and artists will co-host or even host episodes from time to time. I also want to thank Dave King and Blake Jones at SOWAL House. SOWAL House is a new and unique creative studio and event space in the heart of Rosemary Beach, Florida, and we’ll record most of our episodes in their podcast studio.
I’m looking forward to launching the I-65 to 30a podcast and hope you’ll subscribe and tune in for each episode. Check out the website at I-65to30a.com. You can listen to episodes on Apple, Spotify, Libsyn (our podcast media host), Google, Stitcher, and other podcast apps, and watch videos on our Youtube channel.
Finally, I want to give a shout-out to my friend, Grant Walden, at Heartell Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Not only did Grant edit the podcast audio, but he also wrote and arranged the theme song for this podcast. If you need a recording or mastering engineer, connect with Grant on his website at Heartellstudios.com.
Welcome, and thanks for being a part of the I-65 to 30a journey!
