Country music newcomer and recording artist Alex Hall grew up in Gainesville, Georgia. At the tender age of five, Alex wanted to learn to play guitar after hearing Elvis Presley’s records. Unfortunately, his guitar instructor informed his parents that since he didn’t know how to read, learning the instrument was useless. Fortunately, Alex resumed playing several years later and is writing and performing some amazing music.

Alex’s debut EP, Six Strings, contains six songs performed with veteran and newcomer acts that allow the young singer-songwriter to showcase his extraordinary talent. The project is co-produced by Pete Good, AJ Babcock, and Alex. “Jealous Love” was the first single to be released and features John Osborne from Brother’s Osborne. This hard-hitting tune highlights John’s incredible guitar talent alongside Alex’s vocals.

Other tracks on the Six Strings EP feature Brad Tursi from Old Dominion, Tenille Townes, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, and Kassi Ashton.

Alex began playing shows at 15 when other kids were focusing on athletics and other teenage activities. “My dad loved the country outlaw sound of Waylon and Willie while my mom primarily listened to rock,” Alex mentioned on the Southern Americana podcast. “I loved Lynyrd Skynyrd and met some of the members at a Wal-Mart when I was in middle school. We waited for hours, and I was so impressed by the late keyboardist, Billy Powell. He was so nice to us.”

Playing the Guitar Like Brad & Keith

Another major event in Alex’s life also occurred at 15. Knowing he wanted to write and sing songs, Alex asked a guitar instructor to teach him the basic major and minor chords. A couple of months later, he performed in front of others for the first time. “My dad and I would literally drive around to venues that featured live music, giving him our number and asking when I could play. I would drive all over the place placing shows during the week, then driving home for school the following day and playing at church on Sundays.”

Alex made the trip to Nashville a few times a month while in high school, meeting and writing with other songwriters. “After I was introduced to John Mayer’s style, it changed everything for me. The same happened after realizing that artists like Brad Paisley and Keith Urban could master both singing and playing lead guitar.”

One of my favorite songs that Alex has cut is the single “Whiskey On The Table,” which tells the story of a breakup when the girl takes her things while the guy drowns his sorrows.
