Last Minute Gift Ideas for Southern Men

Each year I vow to have my Christmas gift list filled by late-October. It’s a noble objective, yet I’ve never met this self-imposed deadline. If you have procrastinated filling your holiday list this Christmas season, here are some last-minute gift ideas for Southern men.

This summer, a friend sent me a copy of Natchez Burning, the first book in this exciting trilogy from southern fiction writer Greg Illes. I had never heard or read any of Illes’ previous works, and now I’m sold on his riveting writing style. Based in and around the author’s hometown of Natchez, Mississippi, this series will keep you turning page after page as Illes describes the personal and professional challenges of prosecutor turned local small-town mayor, Penn Cage and his quest to defend his physician father from his own sins and the sins of a secret society. The Bone Tree and Mississippi Blood round out the second and third volumes.

Revival Roasting Company (Coffee)

The Nashville, Tennessee region not only produces outstanding music and artists, and it’s now home to a coffee roasting company spearheaded by a famous soap opera couple.

You may know them as Ryan McNeal from Young and the Restless or Jennifer Horton from Days of Our Lives. When Melissa and Scott Reeves not behind the camera producing daytime suspense, they’re working on their farm near Leiper’s Fork and Franklin, Tennessee roasting some delicious coffee beans.
